NATIONAL MUSEUM:

National museum built in 1862, is the best museum in Indonesia and is reputedly one of the finest in Southeast Asia. The museum has an enormous collection of cultural objects of the various ethnic groups Customers, Musical instruments, model houses, numerous fine bronzes from the Hindu-Javanese period, as well as many interesting stone pieces salvaged from Central Java and other temples. (Monday and public Holidays closed, visit the monument national instead.)

GLODOK

Glodok is the centre Jakarta China Town. It is now Banking, hawkers, trading and entertainment centre. Visit to Petak Sembilan Chinese Temple (built around 1650), it was on of the earliest centre of worship for the Batavian Chinese.

KOTA INTAN DRAWBRIDGE

At the North end of Kali Besar lays a small 17th century Dutch drawbridge, the last in the city, called Kota Intan Drawbridge.

SUNDA KELAPA HARBOUR

This 500 years old Harbour area was a vital link to the markets of the outside world fro 15^th Century kingdom of Pajajaran. Since then this port has belonged to the Portuquese and Dutch. The Magnificent and brightly painted Makassar schooner called Phinisi are still an important means of transporting goods to and from the outer islands. This is one of the finest sights in Jakarta.

MUSEUM FATAHILAH

Built in the 16th Century, the museum is housed in the old town hall of Batavia, which is probably one of the most solid reminders of Dutch rule to be found in Indonesia. It provides the historic background of Jakarta though a display of maps ant antiquities, including furniture and porcelains. (Monday and Public Holidays closed). Visit the antique and flea market in Jalan Surabaya instead.

DUNIA FANTASI

Fantasi world is a fun and theme park designed to entertain the visitors into the fascinating world of modern science and technology. The facilities take visitors on imagination tours of Africa, America and Indonesia through some breath taking games.

SEA WORLD

Inside the Ancol Dreamland complex, Sea world is a high tech modern huge aquarium exhibiting the special and diverse tropical marine life found throughout the Indonesian waters, Stroll through freshwater world and micro world, see beautiful tropical fish and corral reefs, and get friendly with marine life at the touch pool. A theater screens movies about the underwater world and a necessity is the antasena tunnel, a walk-through acrylic tube that gives first hand experience of life under the sea.

ANCOL AND ART MARKET

Located inside the Ancol Dreamland, it is an outdoor art market likely recreational place where you will be most to purchese something. Items include antiques, handicrafts, paintinga, potters and knick-knacks. With many of the artisans working on site, it is a paradise for souvenir hunters and art lovers.
